YASA has now become a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz – The brands have worked together since 2019 and this acquisition highlights Mercedes commitment to electric motors.

Continuing to work from their HQ and production facility in Oxford, UK and their innovation facility in Welshpool, Wales. YASA declares they will continue to develop pioneering best-in-class electric drive innovations – providing Mercedes-Benz exceptional performance in the emerging electric era.

This move emphasizes Mercedes-Benz 's objective of being ready to sell only battery-powered vehicles by the end of the decade.
Ola Kallenius, Daimler’s chief executive (Mercedes parent company), stated to the Financial Times that the market was already rewarding companies with ambitious electric plans. In response to the EU’s newly announced plan to end the sale of cars and vans that produce carbon emissions by 2035.

Electric motors are a fast developing area of technology where innovation and expertise drive performance and differentiation.

YASA’s proprietary axial-flux electric motor technology is a step-change from the legacy radial technology on which most of the electric vehicle market still depends, and our motors deliver the greatest efficiencies and highest power densities in class for the smallest possible size and weight.Chris Harris, YASA CEO
